Werner Steingaß becomes the successor of
Reinhold Schmidt elected
After three terms as Chairman of the Paper Recycling Association, Reinhold Schmidt announced at the General Assembly at the bvse Annual Meeting that he would no longer run for office. Werner Steingaß has succeeded in Bremen.
"The decision was not easy," said Schmidt, but he wanted to give in the sense of the Association on the basis of a change of personnel the opportunity to bring new impetus in the policy of the Association Board.
The Managing Partner of the medium-sized waste management company RKS-Recycling Karla Schmidt and recognized expert in the export of recovered paper represented the members of the bvse with passion also on the international stage. In 2013, Schmidt was elected President of the Waste Paper Division at the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), where he was primarily tasked with expanding the status of the recovered paper industry worldwide and counteracting artificial barriers to the free and fair trade of waste paper.

"Small and medium-sized companies in the recycling industry were and are the innovation driver of the circular economy. In the future, we want to continue our active, fair and cooperative work, "said Werner Steingaß, bvse vice president and chairman of the Papierrecycling Association, opening the 20th International Old Paper Day in Düsseldorf.
In front of the more than 500 industry experts, Steingaß reported that Germany had a recovered paper utilization rate of 74.5 percent. A peak that has never been achieved.
